FRIDAY - May 15th 2009

Day 2 started relatively early. Janos and I had a meeting with folks at Henri Stern Watch Agency (Patek USA) at 10:30 AM
In one word - this visit was 'AMAZING" and I will dedicate a separate thread with many pictures dedicated to this event.
In short - we were given a grand tour of 'every office' and repair room of HSWA by their regional sales manager - Mr. Kevin Unger.
After a wonderful lunch to which we were treated by HSWA in a fine Manhattan steakhouse, I was also fortunate to meet
the PP USA president, then later hold in my hands some very rare watches......and was also
able to play with and try on almost all new models introduced in Basel 2009. What a day for a Patek aficionado like me !!
But as I said...more about this wonderful visit later in a special report coming up a few days later.

After the HSWA visit it was time to meet with our friends who were here for the main event - the SAT GTG.
We met in mid-town Manhattan and before we went back to the hotel we visited a few nice watch stores. As you can see, there is
a nice little swimming pool on top of our hotel and after hanging in the hotel lobby bar it was a nice change of scenery.

Later in the day I went with my friend Kevin and Dan from BALL watch to have a few beverages in sports bars surrounding
the new Yankee Stadium just to soak up the atmosphere. We were also considering to get some tickets, but after nothing
reasonable was popping-up, we decided to rejoin the WIS group at the hotel and party some more locally. As far as I remember,
we did not stay up too late on FRI as the next day we had a big day ahead of us: Food Festival & visit of Cartier boutique
with museum type exhibition in the morning and then the GTG itself in the afternoon.
Tomorrow I will continue with the 'Day 3 - and the actual GTG report.

....and in case you think this is fun & would like to join us next time - we will have a GTG #7 in Tampa this fall,
(most likely Nov 7th 2009) and will be in NYC again the weekend after Mother's Day next year - May 15th 2010 !

I am completely rapt by your storytelling. Your pics show a perfectly clear NYC day. Awesome weather. It's rare to see the pics you took inside a watch facility like that. Thanks for the inside edition journey. Like I said... I'm sitting back in DC at my desk feeling like I'm up there due to your pics and story. Thx for that. And, I didn't have to pay any tolls :)
