When did Rolex stop maiking "pinholes" in the sides of the case??
(The 4 x holes in the body / case of the watch, where the braclet is attached)

There are no absolute times that Rolex started or stopped hardly anything..

It is generally accepted that the Sport models changed over during the "Y" series which were produced from about 2002 through 2004..

I liked those lug holes.....those made the look of the Rolex Oyster "tool" watches. I'm glad I have old Rolexes w/ them!

I'm glad I was able to pick up an early Y series 16610 with lug holes too!

I am planning to buy a Submariner next year, a 14060m pre-chronometer. This is my favorite. One reason being because of the lug holes.

Yeh... i just godt me a brand new Submariner and NO holes..
A freind of mine have one to, but with the holes..
He first thought it was a copy i got, cause of the missing holes and difference from his watch, witch is a older model from first / mid. 90's.
I had to show him all the paper and proof of it was geniuine..
This made me wonder about these changes, when? and why??

I found it interesting that Rolex advertised the LV with the holes, and when the watch came out, they did not have any holes, at least the ones that I saw (perhaps older models did have them?). For me, I do like the cleaner look.

A bit funny that one of the things that once was a "give away" for copys now isen't any more :-/
    djmj...

There is still one model of Sub that still has the lug holes... The 14060M non-date model. It is a carry over and faithful to the original with the older style bracelet too.

Well i don't realy mind the absence of these holes in the new models.
I was just wondering about why they disapered?

I've always thought Rolex wanted to make it harder to change the bracelet.
