Is opening the back of a Rolex just a matter of the proper tool? Is there a special process to re-seal to maintain the water tight seal? Can the average person with the tool, open and close without ruining the watch?

The answer to all three questions is YES!![]()
TT:
While I would *never* do it. There are certainly plenty on here who have and can help out. What specifically are you looking to do?
Not looking to do anything specific. Was just wondering if average person could open and close watch without disturbing water-tight seal. I see people posting pictures of their watches insides as easy as I open the hood of my car. The tool is available on numerous websites for $30 to $100.

No problem Bob, just make sure you have a spare seal in case the one inside is bad after opening it.
As fast as I get my DJ back again I will try to open it to change the case back to a sapphire one, and I have never opened a case back before so I will let you know how it went![]()
Rolex! A crown for every achievement!
Thanks for info. Not sure if I will attempt to open or not, but info was helpfull. No reason to open other than curiosity. Sort of like looking under hood of car. I just want to play with it. But sometimes when you touch it, it's never the same afterwards. I will tread slowly.
Thanks,
Bob
Here's what's inside:
