Default Anyone have a Nikon D60?

I've liked what I've read about the D60. It's gotten glowing reviews and the "cons" are not a deal breaker for me. If you have one, how do you like it?

    :)

    Mr DH,

I'm not sure other than VR on the kit lens the differences but I bought the d40 and I am VERY happy with it.. if this is your first DSLR, I see no down side.

several of my contest winner photos were taken with the d40 and kit 18-55mm lens.. I love mine..

like this one, I don't really know what I'm doing yet either,

Unfortunately ($$ wise) this is not my first DSLR. I have a Canon XT right now, which I like, but am ready to upgrade. I've been shooting pics since 1972, so I am familiar with SLRs and what they can do. What caught my eye about the D60 is the size and the IQ (from the reviews I've read). Thanks for your reply. I appreciate it.

    Mr DH,

that is a BIG feature fo me.. it's relatively small as far as DSLRS go.
I've held and played with the d60 (basically wouldn't have known the difference) and it's almost the exact same as my 40.. I was thinking someday I might move up to the D300 and goodness gracious, the 300 seems 3 times the size and weight.. really made me appreciate the size of the 40.

for the price, I don't see how you can go wrong.. I love my Nikon

    Check out:

My wife has a D40 and it is one fine camera for the money. She added the 18-135mm lens for her bird photos.
My only complaint is the lack of the pot near the shutter release which would make using the Manual Mode easier and the missing LC Display on top of the body. If you used to run the old manual metal body cameras like the Pentax SP or Nikon FM2 then transition to a D200 would be quicker.
There are many others like it but this one is mine. John

Would love a D300 but after going for the D70 & D200 I got off the train.
