I'm sure your Dad's WM would be happy to take a look at the stem for you . They must have had a great relationship or your Dad made quite an impression on this guy to have not charged him for the repair as they generally start around $600.I have had only one legacy customer and I still think of this guy from time to time even after 15 yrs . I recently posted " contrary to popular belief , Watchmarkers are not allergic to baked goods " it would appear your Dad knew this as well .It was nice disscusing this with you and I hope I helped ............Jesse

sadly, dad's watchmaker is no longer with us.

thank you jesse for all your help, I am sure I can bring this to a watchmaker in manhatten, I noticed you commented on a thread talking about an old time watchmaker and I will pay him a visit.

when i do get a camera I will post better shots of the face, case and mvement, thank you again for the invaluable information

This is Truly this is a KING among watches. A 'repeater' is rare a Patek Philipe repeater is a museum piece.

Touch, tamper with it not. Take pictures ESPECIALLY with serial number and then write to PF with pictures and serial number

    Maybe $25,000

    And the other two watches?
Vacheron also superlative company, whos watches are worth a lot.

    Pictures and care
Do nothing that may damage these watches. You may be sitting on $50,000

Wow, sounds like your Dad had some good taste in watches!!!! Even if they're not your taste now, in a few years you may change your mind. If you don't intend to wear them, I'd pack them away in a safety deposit box. If you do want to wear them, have them serviced and have the repairman show you how they function. PLEASE POST PICS, I'M ALREADY DROOLING ON MY KEYBOARD!!!!!

    Default got a camera

finally picked up a camera, thought it would be good enough to take better shots, these are not too good but I think you'll be able to see the watch, the camera is not good enough to show the patek inscription along the band frame of the crystal in the back

next I'll take pics of the patek and vacheron wrist watch

if there's a clock section on the board I'll post a desk top clock that is simply magnificent, about 1800's, it sits flat on the table with the face straight up instead of at a right angle, if you guys want and it's ok with forum protocol I'll get a picture of that on this thread

    Default wrist watches

man, this camera should be better then this, it must be me, this thing has 14.5 mega-pixels

anyway, the watch with the hinged lugs is the vacheron, I believe it's a womens watch but I like to wear watches edge of wrist so this one goes nicely there

the other is the patek, I wore this one while in a suit and it does look very nice when dressed, quite understated but draws attention anyway

problem with the patek, it only takes a couple of turns for winding and only lasts about 6 hours so this one needs a repair

I also included in this panel the repeater's original case, comes with two replacement crystals and the store it was originally purchased

forgive the blurry piocs, I have to set this to automatic since I don't know how to set a camera for these kinds of shots, when I get someone who knows what they are doing I'll get some better shots

    Hey Perris ,
Don't sweat the Pics you can always re-post them . I have been taking pictures of a repeater that I'm working on . I taken thirty and have three good ones to show for it . The wrist watch sounds like it may have a problem with the winding pinion or the mainspring is not the right length .

I was wondering where the PP inscription was. Most of the PP repeaters I've seen or worked on did not have a full plate ( bridge ). Yours looks more like the english repeater I have on my bench right now . It looks like there is a little discolouration on the screw heads which may have been caused by exposure to moisture at some time , but not a big deal . The "stripes " on the movement are" cotes de geneve' " which is where it was made it's just that mainplate that I find unusual , but then again it's a 5 min repeater which are rare.
