Scott, I'll tell you what Rob told me when I was considering a GO against the VC: you'll tire of a Rolex - the Patek is sexy. I too got nervous when I was going to meet the seller of the VC, but I don't regret pulling the trigger on that VC at all. It was my grail for years just like the 5135 has been yours.

Still mulling this over.. And I still NEED to find these 2 side-by-side in a store (no easy task as most Patek dealers don't carry Rolex & vice versa).

But, when I look thru the pictures I've taken, and look at these 2 wrist shots, the blur becomes a little clearer.... At least in 2D...

Ok, neither is the actual metal I'd go for, but the pics still help...

Are these the 2 you want to see side by side?

I have opened this thread for the first time and all I would say is that if someone up there has made you capable of fulfilling your dream, why are you hesitating? Go for the Patek, and I'm sure it will be something you will cherish for the rest of your life. I think all of us on this forum dream of owning a patek some day, and you are one of the few who can, and as for the strap issue, I'm sure 300$ a year won't hurt at all for in a way maintainance of your dream.
    Hope that helped.

IMHO, the Rolex simply doesn't compare. Just looking at those two wrist shots, the PP is just so beautiful and refined. I say either PP or nothing. Go big or go home!

    Default Strap

The strap issue is huge for me. I think the 5135 is an AMAZING piece! BUT......
I had a JLC master Geo in rose gold. I LOVED that watch BUT i had two issues; 1) it was only 38mm, which is smaller than I prefer and 2) it was on a strap, which meant I wore it traveling and "out" on special occasions only...hard to justify the $$ sitting there and not being properly used. Having said all that, I MISS the JLC so much that i intend to purchase a Rose Gold JLC Master GEO in 40mm when I have the extra cash...i just love the piece too much t be without it.
SO.....go get the 5135 (Rose gold would be my choice) and enjoy it...if you dont...you will regret it.

I've just started to save up for a PP and just skip over a Rolex all together, I hope I can stay on my track and own one by next year!
