Default New watches and forum sponsors

I understand the idea of forum sponsors but I disagree that we cannot post a link to a non forum sponsor but can post away about shopnbc whose not a sponsor, this makes no sense. Now if you want to buy from a sponsor go ahead but fact is all of theses sponsors don't even have the current Invicta lineup and most can't even get them.

Tom Palmer has no new models and sells the same stuff he has for years. Discount watch store does a few of the newer models but nothing close to the shop channel or WOW.

So whats wrong with posting a link or a www.whatever.com of another seller? This is a watch forum and certainly the majority are not doing business with sponsors only. Most of us want to share where we get whatever from and the deal we got. None of theses sponsors can even touch a shop channel or WOW prices, so whats the deal?

This forum is maintained through the support of our sponsors. Without their support the doors would close on WTF. No one is required to buy from our sponsors. However, when you provide a link to a website you are giving them free advertising. This is not fair to our sponsors who pay for their advertising. When it comes to ShopNBC the lines get a little blurred. Since Invicta sells directly through ShopNBC it is nearly impossible to eliminate discussion of one and not the other. Links to their website are not permitted. Web savvy shoppers know where to look without links being posted to WTF. It is not required that you agree with the rules of WTF. It is only required that you follow them for the benefit of the community as a whole.

One last word regarding our sponsors. They offer a level of service that cannot be matched by bulk retailers.

I hear ya on that, its kind of annoying that you can’t post links.. I get the fact that you have paid advertisers and if I want to check them out I’ll click on their links, but to not be able to post links about other watch vendors we may feel are pertinent to the topic seems silly.

I can see it being a problem if people are spamming, but a link pertinent to the topic seems like it should be ok.

I hear ya and I understand your point, however I don't agree on your above point. I've purchased from both of the Invicta sponsors and can find no diffrence from any other seller, they offer nothing the others don't. A sponsor pays to have their name on a forum so that they get business, they pay for a service and recieve that service in the form of a banner and link. By a member posting where they got X watch from and what they paid is doing a service to the forum as well. Its sharing the deal we got and where we got it. Theres a huge fiffrence between a member posting spam and a member posting a link of interest to all members.

This was not posted as argument or to infalme the admin or mods or whoever. But being able to say shopnbc all day long and not being able to say so and so has a great deal is crazy.

Like for instance, asking if someone saw the $75.00 deal over at [non-sponsor link removed] for the Python Racing Sport Swiss??

That is asking a question or possibly helping someone out that is looking for that watch.. Seems like it would help the forum .. Some post a deal , someone buys the watch, they post pics , we all are WOW over it .. Does not seem that bad to me.

    Guys,

Like it or not, it's the rules of the forum. Posting links & discussing non-WTF sponsors are not allowed - plain & simple. This policy has been the same for over 4 years, and hasn't changed.

If you feel strongly that a particular picture or statement from a non-sponsor site (except any deal / price discussions) are relevant to a discussion here, then cut & paste the text and / or photo. There's always an option to just posting a link. Yes, it takes a little more work, but it's still an option. However posting links (like the one that was posted above) are not allowed.

We don't have a lot of rules here on WTF, and we're certainly more open than most forums. But your cooperation & help is adhering to the rules we do have is greatly appreciated..

like mentioned above without any site sponosor's we would have nothing, sure mentioning deals here and there seem harmless, and in all honesty at first it would probally be ok, but before you know it, the site will be flooded with link after link after link, and it will flood the site, bring up site maintaince, and probally cause problems amongst members and other site sponsor's.

I don't know of any watch web site that allows posting of links to non-sponsor sellers. There are a couple that won't even let you discuss prices paid or ebay links.
