    Default Rolex Irony At Wimbelton

I find it funny that Rolex, a Co that prides itself on Mechanical watches almost exclusively, uses DIGITAL, QUARTZ Timmers for Wibelton. Come on guys why not build a BIG COSC Timer that is automatic, heee
Anyway, I just thought the irony of this is funny.
Note I am a mechanical watch guys for sure, but I appreciate the value of a great quartz watch like the Citizen Atomic Skyhawk TI that I am wearing. I also appreciate my Invicta SAIII GMT watch :)

Quartz is the real king of accuracy. It's what you need when it counts.

    Default yeah

Yeah, I just find it so funny, that the Almost Snobishness of the ANI-quartz Rolex watches, use a Quartz timmer. Note, I am almost in the same camp as I lean towards mechanical watches (they seem to have more soul), but I am loving my new TI Citizen Atomic Skyhawk, it has everything I want, just wish it was a bit bigger, but still its nice, NOW lets see a 10 foot Rolex Daytona!!!! at Wimbeldon :) :)

its about status....they use the most simple movements and complications...yet they are still kings by a massive margin....i like some of their models but would never bite @ those prices...

    Default yeah they are non-profit

Yeah, the thing people need to know about rolex:
    1) They spend the most on ad's , so you know you pay for them, the consumer :(
    2) THey are a non-for profit organization.

These 2 facts alone will help most understand Rolex

But if you look at the history of Rolex you would see that they helped develop the first quartz movements for watches in the 1960's. In addition, they hold a patent for a digital (LED) watch movement. They pride themselves on accuracy, so it is not a stretch to provide digital quartz for Wimbledon.

    Default yeah but

Sounds good on the history lesson, but thats not the point. The point is that a company that prides itself on making, selling & promoting mostly ONLY Mechanical movts (yes the make some qrtzs) this is funny that they would use Quartz at wimbelton. I mean Rolex can make a watch to compete with the Brieghtling Emergency, but they do not since this is not their market niche. Best Rgds Bill
