    Default Dr Chronograph

I just got a Spacemaster last year, really like it a lot, recently visited my AD and saw the Dr Chronograph, the poison went deep in my heart!
Don't have too much info about this watch, seeking advise from gurus here, what is the market price and your opinion about this beauty?

    Thanks!
    Ben

    Hi Ben,

The Doctor's Chrono is the most expensive piece in Ball's current lineup - now reaching $15k USD. For me, it's not really what I'm looking for in a chrono, and it's well beyond my reach anyway.

    Regards,
    -Jeff

    Default Dr Chronograph

I think the Dr.'s Chronograph is one of the most beautiful watches I have ever seen. I don't buy doctors needing them to avoid having to make complicated calculations to determine a patient's pulse rate. If a doctor can't multiply a relatively small number by six, he or she isn't the person I want making decisions about my medical care.
That said, I think the watch is totally cool and beautiful. It is certainly out of my price range. Fortunately I know how to multiply and can calculate a patient's pulse rate in my head without too much difficulty.

    regards,
    Jeff

Really reaching that high price? was retailing at $11k (USD) in my country.
This price can get me a Rollie but I think the Dr Chro is way nicer and more superior in quality at this price range, IMO.

Would you pay this price for this watch?

Nah, I'd rather take the same amount of $$ and get five to eight other Ball models that I've been over instead.

If you like the Dr. Chrono, then likely you would like other models in the Trainmaster series. I have owned one or more watches from each of the different styles of Ball watches (except Conductors--don't like square cases), and think that dollar for dollar, the best watch that Ball makes is the Cleveland Express COSC, with either the blue or the silver dial. It is an engineering masterpiece with the raised numerals that change color in different light, with the COSC accuracy, the perfect size, great on the bracelet or on a croc/leather strap, etc. The CE rivals the big R in looks, quality of workmanship, accuracy, and they have a cool set of modest lumes (tritium tubes). Other members will likely chime in with their favorites, and those opinions are equally justified, I am sure. 10 or 15 grand on a watch doesn't make any sense to me in this economy, where there are a lot of good (and cheaper) alternatives.
Ball Engineer Master II Arabic 38mm, Black/White, SS
Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon Magnate, 40mm, Blue/White, SS
    Ball Fireman 43mm, Black/Yellow
Ball Trainmaster Cleveland Express, 41mm, Blue/Silver, SS
Ball Trainmaster Cannonball 43mm, White/Black, SS

You are right, actually my next ball is Cleveland express Blue dial, with croc strap.
Keep the Dr. in my dream ...

    Hi Ben,

Brian posted the 2010 retail price guide here.

2010 Ball Watch USA Suggested Retail Price List

A few things to consider is that the Trainmaster Doctor's Chronograph is only available in precious metal (Gold or Platinum), hence the "upper bleachers" price level. The other things to consider is the watch movement. The Trainmaster comes with a modified and decorated ETA (Automatic BALL Cal. 350)

    Limited Edition to
    199- pieces in YG
    199- RG
    99- Platinum

Triple inline : Month, Day and date complication

$11 to $15 k will buy a lot. However I don't believe that many watches will retain their purchase value as well as a Rolex (other than Patek).

To answer the question? No I could not spend that much for this watch. Maybe bring it down to the $9k range .
