    Default Omega aftersales be careful

Hi looking for some help from any of you watch enthusiasts out there
Please read the estimate received from Omega Switzerland below. Asked them to change a bezel
    And shappire glass:

We have received an estimate for the repair work required to put your Omega
    watch back into working condition

Partial repair to automatic movement calibre B

    Steel bezel

    Reflective sapphire crystal glass

    Green crystal sleeve

    Replacement steel crown

    Valve pusher

    Reseal

The total repair cost will be €685.00; we will not proceed with any work
    until we hear from you

The estimated repair time is approximately 06 weeks after receipt of your
confirmation (availability of spare parts allowing).

Watch returned to me losing 10mins a day and movement stopping every 24 hrs. Brought watch
Back to shop and Omega Switzerland said that they did no work to the movement yet the quotation
Says work to caliber B and crown replacement. Can the crown replacement affect the movement.
The watch which worked perfectly before I sent it. Now they want another 500 to fix it. Told them send the watch back. Note the watch is 13 yrs old but had € 500 overhaul in 2007. I'm very dissatisfied with there aftersales. Can somebody please inform me if any of the above work can affect the movement.
    Thanks.

Omega can be pretty frustrating to deal with for repairs as they want to do far more than you often want. I asked about having a recently overhauled movement regulated at a local outlet - they said that because they didn't have an in house repair shop any more, it would have to go back to Omega and I'd probably get an estimate for $500 for a total overhaul - again.

Write them off and find a local qualified repair person to set up your watch.

All the manufacturers want to do a complete service and not just a simple repair. Omega is cheap by comparison. JLC is a minimum of $1200.
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

I have a watch that has the 1020 movement. Omega quoted me nearly $600 for service, and $300 for a strap and buckle. The watch itself IMHO is not worth that much. I cracked up laughing and thought they were suffering from hypoxia. No wonder why 3rd parties are thriving. In this economy, most are not willing to part for unneeded repairs or grossly overinflated prices.

    That's insane.

Take your car to the Dealer for a brake job, and you will end up w/a laundry list of all sort of stuff that must be fixed/replaced, and BTW not related to brakes!

Just curious, what is a fair price for a complete service and how do you justify it?

This problem will get worse. Swatch is starting to restrict which parts they will sell to third parties. So a $50 part that a local shop might repair for, say, $150, has to get sent to the Omega service center...

Omega watches are a luxury, and cost accordingly. You could always auction the watch and buy a Timex. get out of it completely

I didn't realize Omega would open a watch without requiring a full service on the movement.. learn something everyday.
