Default 8500 Calibre cost increases that much the value of the watch?

I want to add a modern Constellation to my Omega family, as I have three vintages... and this is in consideration, as it's the style I like the most from modern connies...

OMEGA Watches: Constellation Chronometer 38 mm - Steel on steel - 123.10.38.21.01.001

But, when looking for the MSRP, it's $5500, My SS P.O. was around $3600 and has the 2500 CoAxial

Why this so high cost difference, anyone knows?

Should I resign and pay that much for it??? It's the same cost as the V Series SS Submariner

That's about the price of them with the 8500. Omega wants to go head to head with Rolex since they have the new movement. Worth it? I don't know. They sure seem like great calibers. In 40 years I'll probably being going bonkers trying to find one in mint condition.
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

It's hard to say no, which is probably why so few responses here. I mean, Omega itself is a great value within the industry IMO. One can argue that these watches with the 8500 caliber can go up against ones double their price point and come out on top. So, I'd say in general they are worth it. But I am not sure if it is worth the extra change on top of the 2500. It is obviously the development costs for for the movement which explains the higher price point, not necessarily the cost to produce and or assemble it. Sort of like why prescription drugs cost so much. R&D is very expensive.
