HELP! Speedy or Seamaster?

I am in a tough situation. I wanted to have an Omega either Seamaster or a Speedy. I went to visit an AD at my place. And told me Seamaster is much a better watch than a speedy ("you don't go to the moon anyway?, right?"..AD).

Anyways, there were some issues on the caliber 2500 which worries me much and the reliability of the 1863 on a 3573.50.00 Black Speedy which makes me lean on this one for now.

But what I really like is the Seamaster 2254.50 but I guess this is hard to find nowadays and being a newbie am afraid to buy them used online. Is there a reputable delaer that sells this SM?

As for the Speedy (sandwich), I am itching to pull the trigger anytime now. I don't mind winding this everyday as long as the caliber is reliable and durable, am good.

Any thoughts?

great choices I'd say go for the Speedy first because inevitably you'll find yourself owning both watches (trust me on this). By doing this you'll also be giving youself time to find the Seamaster 2254.50 which you are still searching for.

if you like chronos get the Speedy, if you plan on getting it wet... get the 2254.50...

BTW, the 2254 does not have the 2500 series Co-Axial movement.. well, basically it has the rock solid reworked ETA 2892-2 movement.. and besides the Co-Axial is a fine movemnt, I've never seen any trouble with mine or anybody's I know.. I actually prefer the Co-Axial for several reasons.

the Sapphire Sandwich might be a little easier to find right now, so if you think you might want both I'd hunt down a 2254 while you still can, in a year or two you'll probably only find used ones.. and there's nothing wrong with that.

I love my 2254, and decided not to get a Speedy... not a Speedy kind of guy.

Thanks for your thoughts..I decided to get the speedy sandwich. Though Omega ADs here in Vancouver is really tight on discounts, best they can offer is around $4,450 CAD.

Any ideas on the MSRP of this model 3573.50 cal 1863?

hmmm maybe I should calm down a little bit..I'll be in NYC on the weekend of 25th and will try to go around and scout for the best price.

In the meantime, 2254 is still in my active list....
