Default Another Advantage of Owning An Omega - I Fly Under My Wife's Watch Radar . . .

. . . with only 6 watches in my collection, I have more watches than most, but a lot less than a "true" collector. Couple of Citizen Eco Drives, a couple of cheap (but reliable) Invicta Pro Divers, 1 Omega quartz Seamaster diver . . . and my new Aqua Terra. White face, blue markers. Just put on a Hadley leather strap for the winter. Looks awesome. Anyway . . . .

We go over to our neighbor's house to watch football on Sunday. Our best friends. My neighbor is sporting his new Rolex Submariner that he got from his employer as a "thanks for the hard work this year bonus". Beautiful watch. Doesn't look (or act) much different from my Invicta 9937, but that's another thread.

So he shows it to me and my wife and says - accurately - that's its $6000 watch. My wife wouldn't know a Seiko from a Psycho, but she sure as hell knows what ROLEX means. Same with my neighbor. So I'm ooohing and ahhhing over it and my wife says "yeah, he (meaning me) has some nice watches but I think I'd kill him if he EVER spent more that $500 on one. What are you wearing tonight hon?"

So I wave my new Omega AT at them, "ahhh, just wearing this tonight". You know the AT - beautiful but classy and understated.

So my neighbor says "nice watch" and turns up the TV. My wife says, "yeah, I like that one". And pours another pinot grigio.

Loving my AT more and more every day. Some secrets are just worth keeping.

That's a good story. Unfortunately for me, Windy knows what an Omega is because a couple of her friends have Constellations. She's aware they're more expensive than her TAG. Great for you that your wife isn't on to you - so go buy a De Ville Power Reserve and a Speedmaster!
