    Default Lum-Tec GMT Cobalt Chromium??

    Hey there,

Just registered to this forum today. All the information is great, only because I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a Lum-Tec really soon.
Fell in love with the Lum-Tec M27 GMT. I've been searching high and low for one, to no avail.
I travel quite a bit, so a GMT complication is necessary for me.....plus the almost bullet-proof sturdiness of the Tungsten case is a must!

I know reading threads on this forum that Cobalt Chromium model's are coming out in 2013.

So my questions is....does anybody know if a new GMT model (automatic movement) is coming out in Cobalt Chromium? Because if they are, I will forego my M27 search....save my pennies, and pull the trigger on a Lum-Tec GMT CC, next year.

    Any info would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

There hasn't been any 2013 news beyond the case material discussions. However, there is still the difficulty LT has in obtaining quality mechanical GMT movements. I wouldn't hold my breath for a 2013 automatic GMT, unfortunately.

    Sure thing!

Cobalt Chromium case, world war II u-boat steel cut out dial, with palladium markers, 60 layers of lume, white gold hands, turnable bezel with buzz saw gadget, water proof to 12000 meters, black and silver coloured cobalt chromium bracelet, 31days reserve automatic movement and a second time zone on the very BACK of the watch, so you just need to flip it!

And all of this for stunning $699...

I think you should pre-order a M60 for now and then just lean back and enjoy what's comming.

    Cheers,

I think acmoreland post above is spot-on. I'd advise you to continue your search for a M27 because, as you've probably observed, they rarely ever pop up for sale so even if LT were to produce a Cobalt Chromium mechanical GMT in the future you should have no problem unloading an M27 for little to no monetary loss.

That being said, if Lum-Tec were able to somehow source 100-150 ETA 2893-2's for a run of CC GMTs in 2013, I'd absolutely buy one even at a slight premium!

Working on it! But they are VERY hard to come by and the ones we can find are small lots at a huge premium. I think there was a 9015 GMT in the works last i heard but nothing in time for our next production. We could use quartz but for our highline models i prefer to keep them all automatic only.

I'm very glad you're looking into it and I definitely agree - I'd personally have a hard time shelling out for the higher end LTs such as the M Tungstens or the upcoming M Cobalts if they aren't powered by a mechanical movement!

My wish would be for a jumping hour hand like a Rolex or Omega rather than a jumping GMT hand which is what I think the M27 has.

Indeed, it would not be an exaggeration to describe the history of the computer industry for the past decade as a massive effort to keep up with Apple.
