Default Lum-Tec VS. Reactor - video

As you can see in the video, Lum-tec's MDV lasts longer than Superluminova, however, the reactor watch has tritium tubes that take over after the lume has faded. I think if Lum-tec did start making models with tritium tubes as well as their MDV, they would have the most visible watches at night. As I was reading in the thread M33 charging glow, they are already working on incorporating the two technologies.

Can't wait to see the results!

I am somewhat puzzled by this video. My A6 is a lot brighter than it is in the video and it lasts a whole night, up to the point I can easily read the hour in pitch black night after a 5-hour sleeping time...

In short, I don't recognize my Lüm-Tec from the video clip shown.

The reason it fades to black, I'm assuming is because the camera lens can't pick up the low level of light coming off the lume. We all know from experience that lume does in fact last many hours not just one. But tritium will stay brighter than lume past the 1 hour mark.

Interesting video. Thanks for posting it. I do tend to think that the absolute lack of lume is just camera aperture being unable to get enough light in. But there is no denying that tritium will just stay at the same level the whole time. I would like a tritium one day for fun, but I have never found my LTs to lack visibility even in the middle of the night.

Indeed, it would not be an exaggeration to describe the history of the computer industry for the past decade as a massive effort to keep up with Apple.

I realise this is an old thread but I'd like to share my experience of tritium watches.

I've a Nite MX100, wear it everyday because it's relatively cheap and hardy. Lums aren't the brightest to begin with and takes it to be reasonably dark to read but as it gets darker and your eyes adjust they are surprisingly good, I can see why they would win favour among the military.

People do know that MDV is Superluminova right? MDV stands for Maixumum Darkness Visiblity and is the marketing term for Lumtecs personal mix and application process if my memory serves. The cheaper watches use less concentration of superluminova in the mix as well as not applying it as thickly. My Citizen is a beautiful watch and it's superluminova but the application is way inferior to Lumtec, it's barely readable an hour out. Plus most cheaper brands make the hands really bright and chince out on the markers.

I'm thinking of doing a more fair tritium comparison thread where the camera settings are adjusted properly because at many settings you can see the Lumtec just fine although much dimmer next to the tritium after some time but in the photo it might not show at all and that does not give people a real world view of the differences.
