Default Tungsten Bracelet - Last Midlink question

Is there a reason that the edges of all of the midlinks are polished except for the last midlink before the endlink?

I had a related question/observation. I'm not sure that last midlink is supposed to rotate relative to the endlink (hence you would never see that unpolished edge). On my bracelet, one of them rotates, and the other is locked into place by virtue of the tight fit to the edge of the enlink. My bet is that they were designed to lock into place relative to the endlink but that some of them can pop out due to imperfect tolerances.
