    Hi Roger-

I know nothing of that site other than it came up in a search for Hamilton picures, of which it has a bunch, and, I think, similar sections for other brands.
I couldn't even tell you the name of it to save my life w/o going back to look.
I did note sales prices from late '90s to possibly '07.

I've had tunnel-vision the last few days trying to find a style with this dial!

Email on it's way about your offer. Tnx!

    FWIW -

Using what seems to be the common units, my dial measures 22.5mm H x 21.5m W.

Surely someone is familiar enough w/Hamiltons to identify it?

    Thanks.
    Terry

You may not like the case that the dial goes to. My suggestion would be to find a non-running Hamilton you like that has either a 980 or 982 movement inside and have a jeweler swap out the movements. It's a relatively simple job that would take 15 minutes max.

    Point well taken, Tom.

And given the seeming difficulty, not to mention the likely cost, of finding a "correct" gold case these days, it's most likely I'll end up following your advice (tho' I'd still like to know what it was originally - almost gotten to be a personal grail! ).

I've been watching eBay for suitable candidate cases (the few so far are all the rgp types), but hadn't thought to consider swapping into a complete watch.
I also didn't know if 980/982 movements were the same dimensions and therefore interchangeable with the 982M.
From your reply, am I correct in assuming this is true?
And will it fit into the curved cases also?

Of course, this means I'll hafta look at all those pictures again to decide what I like!

    Thanks, Tom.

    regards,

Having found a bewildering array of models and variations, I'm wondering what specification defines, say, a Franklin as a Franklin?

I see different years of a particular model having different dials, number styles (enameled and applied), number of actual numbers, hand styles, etc.

Is it simply case design, or is there more to it?

    Thanks.

if i may offer some advice having done exactly what you are doing- register to all the forums you can find; timezone vintage, nawcc, watchuseek vintage, etc, and search their archives. you will find a wealth of information about old models, their differences and how to identify them. you can rest assured that, more than likely, someone has asked the question you are asking, or has commented in a way that will enlighten you.

    happy hunting!
