    My Watchbox

    Default Another ID thread :-)

    Hi all

Please could you help me identify this little beauty?

Manual wind, steel case, sub-seconds at 6, signed crown, plain caseback, 36mm. Nice Longines strap with a signed buckle, may be original. Keeps good time and looks great.

I've never seen one like it and can't find a similar picture on a Google image search...

Can anyone help me with the movement number and an approximate date?

    Thanks

    Alan

Hi Alan. Welcome to Watch Talk Forums. Your watch is probably a late 50's to mid 60's caliber 30L. If you can pop the back off and shoot a picture of the internals we can tell you for sure, plus tell you the year it was made by the serial number. Is it an heirloom or something you just picked up?

Oh, and tell Bill W. I said hi..... whoever that is.
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

    Thanks for your reply.

Sorry for the delay but I've only just got round to popping the back off.

At the top it says 'LONGINES 17 JEWELS SWISS 11303773 23Z'

I picked it up on ebay last year. I saw it and instantly fell in love with it for its elegance and simplicity. I gave about US$ 300 for it, which might not be a bargain in pure terms, but as I like it so much I think it's worth every penny.

Oh, and if you google 'Friend of Bill W.', you can find out who Bill W. was, and who his 'friends' are :-)

The serial number of 11303773 puts it at 1960. The 23Z is a very nice movement.
