UPDATE: Received my repair invoice from Swiss Service Center today. I was very pleased to see that the total complete factory service includes:

Movement service with adjusting and calibrating. Renewal of water resistance, if still technically possible. Cleaning of case and bracelet. One-year service warranty included.

    Factory Service
    $240.00
    Crown
    $35.00
    IL Sales Tax
    $3.24

    Total
    $278.24
I think that's pretty good especially considering the fact that they were able to determine that I need a new crown and are able to replace the old one with the proper Longines crown that would have been next to impossible had I had my usual local watchmaker's/ jewelery store shop do the work. As this work is all being done by Longines authorized midwest repair center, I am well-pleased that the estimate comes to under three-hundred bucks total! Even including the cost of the return shipping! And with a one-year service warranty!

Another thing I learned in looking at the estimate form is that this authorized Longines service center is also the midwest authorized repair center for Hamilton, Omega, Rado, and Tissot!

I've got an old Tissot I bought from an ebay seller that has a broken crown stem that my local watchmaker took a look at only to inform me he couldn't repair it because he can't get the part that's broken inside the watch movement. Now I know where I can have it repaired and cleaned & oiled, and probably at a reasonable price as well.
