    Default Various Grand Seiko Movements

I have been thinking about getting a GS with a leather band as a dress watch later this year (among others) and was wondering about the various movements: automatic/manual wind, Hi-Beat, and spring drive. How do these compare? For example the SBGR061 (available in the US) has an automatic and SBGH013 (based on GS's Japanese website) has a Hi-Beat but they have a similar color scheme and design. Would you say the Hi-Beat and Spring Drive are better movements than the basic automatics or would you say they are as good except the latter two are preferable as they are unique to Seiko? Right now I am considering those two, the SBGA057 (spring drive and based on the Japanese website), the SBGW021 (automatic with GMT), and SBGW001 (manual and based on the Japanese website).

    Thank You
There are only two things more beautiful than a gun: a Swiss watch or a woman from anywhere. Ever had a good... Swiss watch?

    Hi,

I would go for a Spring Drive based watch as that, IMO, is, by far, the best and most interesting movement.
The SBGA057 is rather pretty as well.

    Default Spring drive rules!!!

DSCN3701.jpgGet a Spring Drive! Join the 21st century of mechanical watch movements (that might be anachronistic) and have the best! I'm jus a leeetle bit prejudice by having a new Ananta Spring Drive. It has been 100% accurate for 13 days now. I can't resist checking it with the national atomic clock pulse. The constant sweep of the second hand is mesmirizing. I understand that Seiko hasn't figured out a service interval yet because the movement is nearly WITHOUT FRICTION. The Swiss must be terrified by this movement. Get one today! Get two, one to wear and one to live in the safety deposit box. You should read me when I'm excited.

    Yes, spring drive Rocks!

I like the way you described " I understand that Seiko hasn't figured out a service interval yet because the movement is nearly WITHOUT FRICTION. The Swiss must be terrified by this movement."
Yes, it will be another Asian on-slaught after the quartz revolution.
