    Default Seiko Monster question

hello, I'm new to this forum and to watches but I've noticed that the Seiko Monster is a really popular watch around here.

I was just wondering why that's so? Is is the looks, the build quality, movement quality (is it a good movement?) or just the overall value?

Is this going to be one of those watches that are going to be really valued 10 years from now?

    Thanks

Not sure about the value in 10 years, but the watch is popular for all reason you mentionned.

I own the orange (on watchadoo band) and black monster (on black zulu 5 ring band).

    Watch look rude and tough.

I've also got 4 other watches of the SKX xxx series, that looks a lot more classical.

Yep, the Monster is the coolest ugly watch around. It won't be worth a ton of cash in 10 years, that's certain. But for what you get for the money, it's the best beater / diver around.

Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

I agree. It is a tough looking watch that still manages to look good. A bit like a bulldog, I guess! And it is well made and solid with Seiko's great quality and reliable movement.

Indeed, it would not be an exaggeration to describe the history of the computer industry for the past decade as a massive effort to keep up with Apple.

    Default New Monster

I received my new Monster a week ago and haven't yet taken it off . Looks big , wears light. So far running +5 secs a day which aint bad for a watch one week out of the box. I'm a clumsy bastard too and I can't count the times I've already banged it but it still looks new. So far I don't feel any urge to take it off and put another on.

Another reason for popularity is the fact that it uses a common movement that has a large aftermarket. You can pick up all kinds of hands and dials for these watches, and they're easily customize-able. You can completely change the look of the watch for pennies..the watch in the pic started as a black Monster.

PS: I have a new set of matching Pilot-style hands waiting to go onto this watch :)

The Seiko Monster is so ugly that it's beautiful! Buy one -any color- and soon you'll have to have another Monster.
