I've been looking at eterna watches on the bay and wanted a few opinions about them.

    Eternamatic - vintage | eBay

    Eternamatic - vintage | eBay

I emailed both sellers and asked if they have movement picks and they both said no. I think both watches are way over priced, just becasue there are not many picks and the descriptions are not very good.

Eterna is a very undervalued brand when talking of the 40's into the early 70's. Keep that a secret though.

Still, if authentic and original that's not a bad price. I don't like the co-branding on the dial with the retailer. Many of the more serious collectors will pass on a watch with that unless it's a really great deal or a very desired piece.

By the way, both links are to the same listing.
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

Not in the best of shape, huh? I do see the bumps on the crown -that's the 5 dot Eterna symbol (which represents the 5 ball bearings at the hub of their rotor). If I were to roll the dice on either, this would be the one worth the risk.

out of the two that the one I liked better. I've have a nice Eterna Kontiki bracelet i would like to get a watch for. The kontiki i bought a few monthes ago (not from the bay) turned out to have a rusty movement, so im a little gun shy now. I know this watch has been for sale for a long time, so im try and see if he will lower his price.

What's going on with that - did you return it or do you still have it?

I bought it antique fesitval ( basically a fancy flea market). I got my my omega from the same guy last year, and when i took it to the watchmaker to get serviced he called back and said it had rust damge and there wasnt anything he could. it still works, wearing it now. so the time i found out it was damaged the antique fesitval was long over.

Every time I see a piece without movement photos, and especially if the seller won't supply any, I can't help but wonder what is he afraid I'll see. What is he trying to hide?

I've never bought a used ebay watch without knowing what the movement looked like.

Those Eternamatics are sweet, classy looking pieces.

Too bad 'very undervalued' doesn't put them in my price range. They're obviously not undervalued ENOUGH!
