Default Another belated incoming - Promethues Jellyfish

I had enjoyed having my yellow Seiko SKXA35, but felt that a change was needed (you know how it is), and also wanted something a tad larger than the 42mm Seiko. I saw the pics of the Jellyfish and thought "that's it!". It comes with some great features for the cost and I have really enjoyed it so far. I'm looking forward to summer when I can really get some good beach/pool wear out of it.

The first thing to note, of course, is the great yellow colour. Perfect for what I wanted it for, beach and pool summer wearing. I know some love the orange, but I really love the yellow watches (I will admit that I haven't tried an orange diver yet, something I will rectify someday.) The dial is nice and clean, without too much going in there. The bezel is uni-directional with 90 clicks and feels nice and precise. I'm not sure what you call the bezel edging, a coin edge? But it gives a good grip to the bezel and looks very functional on the watch.

This is my first watch with tritium tubes and I have to say that I really like them. I never have to worry how charged the lume is and can view the time easily any time of night. Sometimes, especially in winter if the watch has been under a cuff or sleeve, the lume does not get well charged for the night, which is not an issue with tritium tubes. And it is fun just to have them in a watch as well!

The movement is a Seiko 6R15 automatic movement with hacking, handwinding and quickset date. I'm very happy to have a Seiko movement in there as I have always been happy with all of my other Seiko watches (6 in total).

The bracelet is well made as well, with screwed links, solid end links, a safety catch and wetsuit extension. The only thing I don't like is that it has a friction clasp rather than a button clasp, but it is nice and firm and with the safety clasp still very secure.

The best part of it all was that for all of that it was only €247.00 (approximately USD360.62) for non EU buyers.

Some specs of the watch (from their website):
    • 316L stainless steel case
    • 316L stainless steel bracelet with screw links
    • case size: 43 mm width
    • lug width: 22 mm
    • signed screw down crown
    • water resistance: 300 meters or 30 ATM
    • sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating inside
    • unidirectional external bezel with tritium T25 tube marker at 0
    • dial with 12 pieces of tritium T25 tubes
    • watch hands with 3 pieces of tritium T25 tubes (hours, minutes and seconds)
    • Seiko automatic movement NE15A Japanese Made (Seiko 6R15 movement)

Indeed, it would not be an exaggeration to describe the history of the computer industry for the past decade as a massive effort to keep up with Apple.

That looks NICE!!! Just the right amount of yellow. Some others have that "candy apple yellow" that looks like plastic. Ewww!

    (Sigh!) Maybe someday.

Nice design. Simple & straightforward like it means business.
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

Nice watch, but Wombat, I see a small issue.

You seem to be forgetting international protocol. Austrailians are required to use quotes when referncing the season winter, as in "winter" because the rest of the world knows you don't really have "winter". At most, you have "off-summer".

Getting back on topic, the watch is a solid 10. As mentioned, I like, too, the shade of yellow used. Not garish - just right. Not sure I could deal with a jellyfish cuddled up against my wrist all day. Just makes me nervous he'd get itchy and sting me.

    Very awesome addition.

HA!! You've obviously never been to Canberra... . You'd think all the hot air from the politicians would warm the place up in winter.....
(okay, it's still not as cold as where I am, so you're comment holds true for me at least )

Back to the watch... I see lots of pics of a tritium watch, BUT NO LUME SHOTS . What were you thinking? Rectify this oversight immediately

Canberra does get cold, but when I compare it to the winter I spend in Minnesota it is nothing!! But interestingly I feel colder here in winter than I did there, as over there they are all set up for cold winters and here they are so mild that there is no double glazing, air locks on etc.

As to lume shots, I have never done one before but would like to soon.

Default The AU acclimation makes colder temps feel much colder, since your Physiology

is used to and acclimatized to the warmer AU temperatures much more of the year.

Hey Wombat mate, one day your more than welcome to visit and stay here in Upstate New York, we have temperatures that drop to -30 degrees below Zero that last a couple days at most usually, then normally its just around or above zero for a month and then varies up or down for another month, and then gradually increases as spring makes it slow craw towards us.

    Stay warm, summers coming!

Nice new watch mate, I dig the tough toolish case and color of mellow yellow!
