How do I close a quartz watch back without a press? For the life of me, I can't close it with my thumb. The back case does have a gasket.

"That is assuming that it is not a screwback case"
I am sure that it would not be the first time it has happened. It is kind of like the old lady that lives next door to me who knocked yeaterday asking if I could sort her tv for her as it would not turn on. She reckoned the batteries were dead in the remote and she kept giving me a load of older mixed ones that she had and trying to reassure me that some of them were new. Ater about 30 minutes I decided to check the tv itself only to to find out that she had it turned off by the button, so the tv was not in standby mode. So people do stupid things and next time I will remember to check the button first![]()
Make sure the gasket is taught around the circumference of the back. Just push down...
If it is a flat crystal put it on your carpet and put more weight into it. Like Richard says screw it in if it is a screw in type.
A picture of the back of the watch and the cap would be useful.
Picture here
The directions say one of two things...
Press 3 Lead together when replacing battery
Or press peanut butter together replacing battery.
Really just push it on a soft surface and get your weight into it.
Be careful - I've had crystals break under that kind of pressure - even with the right press. Don't do anything.....
..... rash.
(I bet you thought I was going to say "stupid" again, didn't you?)
Peanut butter without jelly? That's just....
..... un-American.
(ha! resisted again!)
OK, finally got it in with a help of medicine bottle.
Now... a different problem. The watch is not moving!!! it has a digital chronograph which works fine but not the three hands..
Does it mean it's history?
