    Default Certina DS-2

I had arranged to meet a guy to collect a Seiko from him and he had told me that he would bring along a Certina with a turtle on the back, had not really got a clue what to expect and I did a little reading up on the web before he came. So here it is a Certina DS-2 with a lovely turtle caseback, it needs a service and a bit of cleaning, possibly a new crystal but I would imagine that this one could be polished. The movement is a Certina 25-652 26 jewel, the movement runs in every position but stops almost instantly when you place it face up any opinions or advise?

We need a movement shot to confirm, because the 25-652 should have 27 or 28 jewels according to Dr. Ranfft's site:

bidfun-db Archive: Watch Movements: Certina 25-652

Definitely service it - it's a very nice watch.
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

Wifes eyesight appears to be better than mine and she suggests that it is the font causing me difficulty, and she reckons it says 28 jewels.

    Hi Richard,

This is a wonderful watch. I love elaborate engravings and this is a very sound pieces. IMHO I think Certina is a very underrated brand. I don't know if you have a watchmaker where you're at but Jesse (Omega as seen above) has worked wonders on my pieces including the Beau Monde you liked!

Thank you, it was not my intention to purchase it but when offered I could not refuse.

Thank you for the recommendation but from what I hear all those American watchmakers overcharge and live like real fat cats

I do have a guy who looks after my watches for me and I am hoping I can find one even closer to home, seems ridiculous that there is no one locally here.

Tell me about it... I don't think anyone in Arizona (other than me) even knows what a watch is.

I emailed 4 repair shops about working on a piece of mine and no one bothered to respond. Jesse helped me out and has been my go to guy. In fact, I'm wearing the watch he repaired today.
