Default What did I just buy??

Hey all, in a completely impulsive ebay purchase, I bought this watch. I don't really know all too much about it. It's a Russian Shturmanskie watch that the seller dates to 1949 and according to the picture, it appears to be a "Yuri Gagaran" model. I'm not 100% sure if the watch is a fake (franken) or not due to the hands but I really love the design so I thought why not? I attached the (lousy) picture of the watch from the Ebay ad as well as a picture from the internet that I believe to be the same model.

If anyone can tell me anything about the watch I'd really appreciate it! I'd also love to see some links to additional info since I haven't been successful googling.

    Thanks all!

What region was the seller located in?
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

If it is a Yuri Gagarin model from 1949, the manufacturer is psychic. Mr. Gagarin did not make his epic journey into space until 1961.

Lou, you know very well that Ukrainian eBay sellers are all psychic and use this talent to travel the world finding extremely rare (ie: one of a kind) items!

Oh, and they're all 100% honest too....

This guy is located in Illinois. Also, I think I assumed that it was a Gagarin model due to the pictures I found on google. I figured it was way too good to be true of a deal on the bay but it does fit my criteria of an unusual watch (by my standards)!

I'll be able to tell people it's a vintage watch that came from the future!

edit* as long as it's old and a manual wind I'll be happy. If not, it's time to start building a time machine

Good to see you have a sense of humor about it. BTW, great screen name.

The watch looks like the re-issue of the Sturmanski worn by Gargarin. It could be legit, but just not vintage.

Indeed, it would not be an exaggeration to describe the history of the computer industry for the past decade as a massive effort to keep up with Apple.

So do these franken watches use vintage movements/cases ect or is it likely that the watch is relatively new? I'm hoping that at least the movement is vintage! I started my bay search for a vintage wristwatch so I at least hope i got that! The main problem now is that I'm captivated by the real thing!!!
