Thread: Thoughts on watches as groomsmen gifts

Default Thoughts on watches as groomsmen gifts

I'm getting married in January and I think it'd be really cool to get my groomsmen watches as their gift (hopefully they agree). I'm leaning toward Orient just because my own experience with their watches has been so good, and want to go with a classy looking watch on a leather strap that'll look good with their tuxes.

The 60th Anniversary hand-wind edition would be perfect but it's out of the price range, unfortunately:

So out of these, which do you think is best to give as a gift?

CEV0M002B (might be a little too expensive... not sure):

CFNAA007B (the groomsman who has an Orient has one from this line so I'd have to get him something different):

    CEVAD001B:

"Metro" CDBAA003A (probably too sporty, but other opinions are welcome):

    All photos from the web.

I know some about their current watches, but not sure how much it should dictate my decision:
My brother (best man) has a Tag Aquaracer and a Christopher Ward C5, both on SS.
One groomsman has a tonneau Orient on SS that I convinced him to get as a replacement for a Kenneth Cole watch given to him by an ex.
One groomsman has a Citizen Nighthawk on SS.
One groomsman has a Fossil automatic...
My fiancee's brother (also a groomsman) doesn't have a decent watch but I'm assured that he would like one.

A great idea! If you give them the gifts before the ceremony then you could all be wearing them during the ceremony and for the pictures - including a group wrist shot!!

With that in mind something like the first one with the white dial would be fabulous if you could find one in the right price range.

Indeed, it would not be an exaggeration to describe the history of the computer industry for the past decade as a massive effort to keep up with Apple.

Very very good idea! Any of those watches will do just get whatever one you like best without burning a hole in your wallet.

Since the top one isn't an option, I'd go with the first one out of the remaining four.

My main reasoning is that it has a bit more of a classic look than the others (to me at least). It's the only round one for starters and doesn't really have any funky, unique qualities that may not fit someone's individual preferences. As an example, I don't really care for rectangular faces even though obviously many do.

The issue here is that you're trying to pick something that 5 different people will like and I think that's your most likely candidate out of that group.

    Thanks all for the input.

I'm debating the merits of ordering different watches for different people although that might be more of a hassle than it's worth. The CEV0M002B would work for everyone but it's more than I'm looking to spend. Maybe I'll just have to splurge (and pick up that 60th Anniversary hand-wind for myself while I'm at it )

A big congrats! I too used watches as a gift for my two groomsmen (my son, and my brother-in-law to be). Both got an Invicta 8926.
