Default A question for you New Yorktonians

I'm going to be in Manhattan in a couple weeks. I have a couple free days, but they are pretty much planned out. I will have some free time in the East Village area above Houston and below 13th st. I will also be walking around East Midtown from 50th to 63rd or so around Madison and Park Ave.

I plan on stopping in on the new GP mothership and also at Aaron Faber's which is an amazing place for vintage. I will probably also step into the Rolex Bld. which is right there, also.

Can anyone suggest any other place in these two neighborhoods????

    Thank ye.

There's an F.P. Journe shop up in that neck of the woods. I want to say 64th and Madison?

Also there's a great vintage watch shop called Michael Ashton at 74th and Madison right next to the Whitney Museum. I can't speak to their prices because I've never asked, but they had some incredible Pateks and Rolexes on display.

As a typical NYer I guess it shouldn't come as a big surprise that I've never been to a lot of the places that make this city so great, including places that suit my interests. I really have to remedy that. The Aaron Faber boutique looks amazing. Presumably, they offer more than what is on their website?

Enzo, I don't have many other suggestions beyond what has already been offered. If my schedule (and yours) allows, I'd be happy to accompany you. I hope you have a safe and happy visit!

But I thought all of the deals were on Canal Street!

Tommy - I really appreciate your offer. I would love to visit with you and some of the other guys who live in the city. But on this visit I will have very limited time and will be with my wife and my brother and his wife. I only see them about once per year, so whatever shopping we do will be loaded with catch-up and family talk.

Perhaps on my next visit to NYC I will be able to meet some of the WE fellas who hang out here. Thanks again for your kind offer!

Thanks everyone for your great suggestions. I think I will take my wide angle lens and a macro for a few close ups. I plan for sure to see FP Journe, the new GP mothership, Aaron Fabers, and Franck Muller. Maybe I can also visit a few of the others. I hope to send back some nice pics.

One other quick question - I have never had problems walking around NYC, but some tell me that purses and cameras can be snached right in the middle of some of these nice areas. I'm sure it has happened, but is it a real problem I need to be concerned with? Wouldn't that be a very low percentage possibility type thing? I will also be walking around Low East Village site where it is a little funky.
