Default Name the brand ending in OMIS from 1940s?

I watched a Marx brothers movie from 1946 on Netflix last night. They had a wrist shot of a mans wrist watch. The first letter or letters were obscurred by the minute hand. The last four letters of the brand ended in OMIS. Anyone know what brand this is? (it wasn't Oris).

Maybe that's why the brand never took off!

Marsss25 YOU are the man! Yep, I think it's a Homis. The peaked M in your second pic matches the style of the logo on the watch. Interestingly, the movie takes place in Casablanca which, apparently, is under some type of French jurisdiction. And apparently, Homis is a French brand? At least it appears so from your pic. Do you think the writer/producer/prop person was smart enough to put a French watch on that actors wrist or do you think it was a coincidence?

They probably did do it on purpose. Many shows have wardrobe and prop staff that make sure there aren't any anachronisms. "Mad Men" has the coolest vintage watches including a Hamilton Endicott:
