Default Azimuth Releases a “Time Machine” to go “Back-In-Time”!

Hot on the heels of this budding young watch company’s new releases at Baselworld 2009 comes another crazy concept of allowing the wearer of this unique Azimuth timepiece to “go back in time!”, sort of a time machine, so to speak.

Since the inception 5 years ago by two Singaporeans; Alvin Lye and Christopher Long, watch collectors have identified Azimuth brand to be avant-garde and totally against the grain of traditional watchmaking. Well, Azimuth did not disappoint with this newest release!

At first glance, one might be forgiven for not noticing anything different in this simple watch with hour, minute and subsidiary seconds hands with a date function. However, on closer inspection, you will be amused to spot the numbers are inverted and so is the brand! What gives? Well, you are looking at the first Swiss Made MECHANICAL wrist watch that tells time counter-clockwise! Azimuth has cleverly modified the mechanism so that both the hour and minute hands move counter-clockwise. The winding crown positioned on the left side of the watch further accentuates the feel of doing everything in the “opposite”.

What Azimuth is trying to achieve here is to provide collectors with an understated dress watch with an understated complication. Subtlety is the message in this unique timepiece, giving the wearer an aura of quiet confidence.

This unique Azimuth designed movement is powered by an in-house modified ETA movement that features an additional subsidiary second with special gearings for anticlockwise motion. Power reserve is approximately 40 hours. The case (42mm) is made of 316L stainless steel and topped with a domed sapphire crystal. The iconic pothole in the case back exposes the heart of the mechanical movement, allowing the wearer to admire the pulsating motion of the balance wheel. Expected delivery is September 2009 with an estimated RRP of Swiss Francs (CHF) 1,600.00.

    Enjoys,

Not for me. Maybe as a gag gift if it was really cheap.

Uh...is it me or is this dumb.

Like the kind of watch you get at Burger King in a Happy Meal?

I understand the fact they had to reverse/mirror everything but come on...

    I wouldn't want one...or wear it either.

Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
