    Great review John...

IMHO, the AutoPilot is the best design George Fox at NFW has come up with, to date... A great value for the buck!!!

Matt & George! Great to see you guys here! Thanks for the kind words, guys!

    Muttley:
I just noticed that you're from New Zealand, my favorite place in the world! A while back, my wife and I spent a month in New Zealand, traveling across both islands, mountain-biking. I absolutely loved it!

My son is named Tasman (after the Tasman Sea) because there was one particularly great day, where in the morning we were hiking the Fox Glacier and in the afternoon were kayaking in the Tasman Sea (hence, the names Fox and Tasman were linked on a great day).

I had originally wanted to name him Whakkarewarewa (after the forest on your north island) but luckily my wife talked me out of it and so we named him Tasman.

    All my best,

    George Fox

What a great story . Hope your son doesn't get any ribbing for the name. It's Dutch (for Abel Tasman, who 'discovered' NZ - after the Maoris of course ), but I guess you would know that.
A good friend of mine has named his son Nelson, and my wife's friend has a son & daughter named Jackson & Amberley, all South Island placenames.
I'm glad you had a great time here. Did you see my thread of the holiday in Queenstown my wife & I had recently? The pics might bring back some memories if you were in that part of the Sth Isl.

And of course, you're always welcome to stay if you decide to return for another visit. (just bring payment of one Autopilot watch)

That's great! We had a fantastic time in Nelson (New Year's Eve) and loved Queenstown. When we were in Queenstown I did some paragliding off the mountains. Biked up some long steep climbs there too. There was also a big night of celebration in the bars for the longest day of the year (since you guys are in the southern hemisphere this happens in December).

I've got some really great memories of NZ. We traveled thru most areas on both islands. Can't wait to go back! Watch out - I might just take you up on your offer!!!

I know I tend to skim but I didn't see any size measurements for this beautiful piece.

George, congrats on bringing out this bold, modern and good looking design in your line of watches..
(....and Furdog....your photos I have seen in our Photography forum are simply amazing).
While I would personally rather see ETA calibers there even at a higher price point, I must
honestly tell you that the looks and design of your line is absolutely top notch !!
A personal care from a small watch company is also very special to a true WIS.
I have never handled NFW watch, but if the pictures are any indication, it seems that in addition
to the good looks the watches are built very solidly.
Do you have any brick & mortar stores in FL ? I sure would not mind to stop-by to try one on.

Keep up the good work, guys !1

Also there are a few varitions of the AP. An all black is one.
I think not for whimps is so cute....

    Hi guys,

Been a busy boy lately. My wife is pregnant with #3, so it's been putting me into Super Dad mode. Not to mention lots of travel for NFW too.... :>)

The NFL has asked me to design a new watch for the referees to use on the field during games. They've got a lot of special requirements but I presented it to them last week and they loved it. Looks like they'll also be placing some orders for AutoPilots, for the pro athletes that Reebok sponsors.

Anyway, to answer a couple questions that have popped up:

    Bmmeup:
The AutoPilot's case is a 44mm x 15mm height. It's got some nice heft and really fits the wrist nicely. Our customers have been very happy with the size and the feel, I'm happy to say.

    Watchfan1:
We were originally looking at using ETA movements, but they kept jacking up the prices and extending the wait time to get the movements. At that point it just did not seem worth it any longer. The Miyota 8215 is a solid movement. I've been telling Miyota for a while now that they really need to start doing some decoration on their auto movements. Well, I'm very happy to say that I met with Miyota while recently in Asia and I was thrilled to hear about all the things they're working on.

They've got a new auto 3-hand coming out at the end of this year that runs at a higher rate, 28.8K bph, direct drive movement, hacking second hand that will run much more fluidly (hmm.... is fluidly a word? If not, I think you know what I mean!)

They're also working on a new automatic chronograph, which is something else I've been asking them to do.

I very much like them as a company with which to do business. They make a solid movement at a very fair price. They don't make me wait for their movements and they treat me like a customer.

    all my best,

    George

Thanks for the update George. Sounds like some interesting times ahead for you personally and your company. Congratulations on #3! Children are a real blessing and joy (as well as shed load of work!!)

Sounds like Miyota have been doing well for you. It will be interesting to see what new things they come up with.

I definitely have one of your watches on your radar for the future!
