    Tbarry,

That is a beautiful watch. Thx for sharing. I wished Longines would have kept their Conquest VHP in production. Sigh!

I forwarded your question and got this reply:

The problem is mostly in the dimensions of the battery. Silver oxide cells usually don't share the same size type with lithium ion ones. Also, the discharge curves are different.

Some movements can take higher capacity cells because they have necessary vertical clearance.

It makes sense - a larger battery will have a longer life. Imagine that...a simple answer!
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

    Question After battery replacement

Hi, I'm Susie and I recently joined this forum. I want to ask about a problem I'm having with two watches that I just had the batteries replaced in.

The first is a Philip Admiral quartz. The other is an Adee Kaye. They are both doing the same thing, which is not much. Neither one will just run. I can run the chronographs, but the second hands on both just don't run. I took them back to the jeweler who replaced the batteries and he isn't a lot of help. He suggested that they may need to have something done after a battery change.

Does anyone know? Has anyone ever experienced this? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Susie

    Dear Dennis,

I always thoroughly enjoy your Horology Descriptions.

They are by far the best that I have come across on the net.

I sincerely do hope that you contemplate issuing them in printed form one of these days.

    Keep up the good work.
