Thread: Can't decide on my next watch

Default Can't decide on my next watch

It's a common problem I know. I have seen many posts from people in the same situation, and now it is happening to me too.

I have 2 events in the next 18 months that I can celebrate with a new watch: my 40th in November and my graduation next year. I had been thinking that I would buy a Tag Heuer Aquaracer for my 40th:

And the Omega Plant Ocean for my gradustion:

But lately I have also fallen for a Longines Master Moon Phase:

I know of a dealer in Sydney that has a used model in stock now for a reasonable price and it has me rethinking what to get when. I was so definite about the Tag then the Omega, but this one is just calling, and having one available for a good price is becoming irresistible! I may just have to change to the Longines this year and the Omega next year and leave the Tag for another day.

So, any thoughts as to which order I should go in?

The rest of my wish list, just FYI, is:
    Omega Speedmaster
    Rolex Explorer II White Face
    Rolex GMT II Pepsi
    Rolex Sub

Well, all the 3 watches are really nice, but if I had to pick, I'd go for go for the Longines and one of the bracelets. I would go for Omega (my choice would be the orange PO, but I think a lot of people prefer the white) over Tag since I feel, and I may be wrong here, that the Omega is in a slightly higher league than the Tag.
But I have to say, they're all great watches, so you can't really go wrong with any of them.
Ps: Longines Master Moon Phase is an excellent choice!!

I have owned a Tag and currently have a Longines and a Speedmaster. I was looking at your wish list and saw a few Rolex's on it as well.

As much as I like the watches mentioned above none of them give me as much satisfaction as my Rolex's the Speedmaster Pro comes close. For the cost of the two you mentioned in this thread you could easily have any of the Rolex's on your wrist.

Food for thought, best wishes in your choice. If Rolex isn't in the cards yet I would go for the PO.

I would go for the omega and the longines, just my two cents, although like mentioned there are some rolex's on your list.

3 watches, 2 events....but wait! Christmas is in there too, man. There you have it, your solution to buy all 3.
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

I wish that an average Christmas could justify one of those purchases!

I think that I have settled on the Longines and the PO. I just need to convince the gift giver to give the gifts!!

    Very,veeeeery hard decision.....
I would tell you to go with Longines....but not this one.
    Try Hydroconquest VII diver.
If not,I would go with the Tag Heuer Aquaracer.Chrono, and more sporty, according to my preferences.
    Better something cheaper,but genuine,than a replica

There is your answer, Longines, since you can get a good deal, then later the Planet Ocean.

Well, just to confuse you alittle more go here -

some pics of my Tag Heuer Chrono Carrera

Wow, that Carrera is really something and the watch I would buy over the 3 you picked...

    But, I digress...

That Longines Masterpiece is simply gorgeous and it's right on the tail of the Carrera on my wish list. I'm not sure if it matters to you, but I believe it's quite abit more expensive than either the Tag or Omega you picked though, isn't it?

Also, I think the Longines is more of a dress watch than the other two which would seem more at home in a casual setting. Actually, the Longines is one of the few chrono's out there that I think would look great in a suit. Nice job by Longines!

So, in the end, go Longines!
