Default Let's see the old stuff .....

I got this from my Dad at Xmas 2006. He bought it in New Orleans in 1973. I remember as a kid, him wearing it. My Dad wore this for about 4 years, then fell victim to the cheap quartz revolution and never went back. Anyhow, I was home for Xmas and was digging (looting) through his desk when I found it. I instantly remembered it but had no idea of the brand. Upon closer look ... wait ... it can't be. A freakin vintage Heuer. And a big gnarly one at that. I showed it to my Dad as if to say, "why aren't you wearing this?" He just looks at it and said casually, "You like that big ugly thing?" "You can have it." No way ... He shoots, he scores!!!! Anyhow, I fired it up and it ran fine. Several months later I sent it off for a major overhaul, new crystal and pushers, and I've been wearing it regularly since. It keeps time to about + or - 2 seconds a week depending on how anal I get with overnight positioning. Anyhow, for your viewing pleasure ... 1973 Heuer Calculator Chrono. The Queen of my watchbox. BTW, Dad still had the papers and the manual that shows how to use a sliderule.

    Thanks for looking - David

Oh, that's sweet! Another legacy watch. I have my grandfather's rose gold Bulova from the early 40's. I'll have to dig up a solo shot of it if I have one. It's only been in SOTC group photos recently.
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

This is my first issued watch. It was already used when I got it!

It is tiny compared to todays watches, but at the time I thought it was great!

Okay, I was searching Photobucket when I realized I did this back a little while ago:

    John, since you asked....SOTC

I think I've added a SS 1950 Seamaster bumper & the SS late 50's IWC manual wind since then. I'm getting ready to put a few on the block as I want to shift in a different direction.....maybe.

If a man is called to be a street sweeper, he should sweep the streets even as Michelangelo painted or Beethoven composed music, or Shakespeare wrote poetry. He should sweep streets so well that all the hosts of heaven and earth will pause to say, 'Here lived a great street sweeper who did his job well.' Martin Luther King

My great uncle gave me and old mechanical Gruen years ago, but I never really cared for it. Maybe a cleaning and a new band might get me interested. I did pick up a Hamilton Clinton which I wear occasionally.

@deepcdvr, drop in at the Hamilton Forum when you get a chance.
