    Default COSC question???

I've been keeping track of my Breitling for the last 3 weeks to check if it's running slow or fast. The first week it was running 4 seconds fast. The second week it was 8 seconds fast and by the third week it was 14 seconds fast. I set the watch according to the government time website and reference back to the website every week.

    Question:
    Is this normal?
With my Breitling being COSC certified, shouldn't it be more accurate?
Should i take it to my watch store to get the watch adjusted?

Anyone experience this type of problem?

Did you reset your watch each week? If not this is what I think of the situation.

If it gained 4 seconds in 7 days that mean it gains 0.57 seconds per day. Very good! And if it gain 14 second in 21 days that means it gained 0.66 seconds per day. Still excellent!

I would not worry if I were you, you have a winner. Something I discovered that works well for regulating a watch though, is to wear it while sleeping. I wear a watch while sleeping anyway but I did not realize how much it helped my watches until I tested them. My PO gains 0.33 seconds per day.

As JB said, need to know if you reset it each week or not. Remember, COSC allows for -4 to +6 seconds per day. So a watch that is fast by 42 seconds per week is still inside the COSC specs. And while 42 seconds may sound like alot, it really isn't. That's still 99.999% accurate. Or here's another way to look at it. You gained 42 seconds after 604,800 seconds...

Now, if you are resetting it, and you've went from 4 seconds per week to 8 seconds per week to 14 seconds per week - while that's still well within COSC, the fact it's adding so much each week on top of the previous week would be slightly worrisome to me. However, I'm guessing that's a running total & you're not resetting the time each week...

No, i didn't reset each week.
So it gained 4 seconds the 1st week, another 4 seconds the 2nd week, and 6 seconds the third week, for a total of 14 seconds in 3 total weeks.

I guess that means it's ok and it doesn't need adjustment.
THanks to J.BOND and SCOTT D for the helpful info.

That's one very accurate automatic - almost within quartz specs! Geez, I thought my Aqua Terra was accurate at under +30 per month.
Can you help me fix my watch?..Where does this: go inside this?: I guess that's what I get for buying it on eBay!!!

You just need to trade that AT for a Breitling pal...

Got one already - like it alot but it isn't that accurate! J.B. made a suggestion to try wearing your watch while sleeping to improve accuracy and I may try it with my Chrono Cockpit. He said this in the Omega forum, but it applies to any watch. Once I get the house set up from our move, I think this could be an interesting trial.

Actually, that is quite impressive. Check it in another month or so. Anything that is outside the range of -4/+6 per day (24 hour period) is outside of COSC specifications, and assuming the watch is new, subject to be serviced free of charge by the warranty.
