Where were you when I needed this site in the 60's???
A style-conscious teenager like myself would never have considered such uncool watches as Bulova's Caravelle line. What an idiot I was!
This gem arrived a few days ago.
I don't know what the brown dial is made of, but when it's turned towards the sun or a lamp it shows up as a light bronze. Tried but failed to capture a pic of the transformation. then I noticed the white hands. I thought "plastic?" But no! It's the lume coating.
Turning it over, it had one of those protective acetate discs on the back. As you can see, the original owner obviously kept it on for as long as he owned it. What a nicely polished surface!
Speaking of polish, the 1282,60 movement ain't shabby either! Notice the camera's reflection on the screw head as well as the gear, albeit out-of-focus. It's accurate, too. I've had it for 4 days and it is ticking away well within chronometer specs! And on a unadjusted movement no less!!!
If I'd known all about this back when, I'd have owned a lot more Caravelles by now.

That's the last thing I need right now. I loved those straps. They were cool. They were comfortable. I still have one or two. If I start wearing them again, the affair will start all over again. I will want more. That means less watches. Let's not go there. Unless.........
