    Default My latest Accutron M0

Just received this M0 Accutron. Wanted to add one to my collection but thought it would take a while. Found this one a few days ago and price was within my budget so I picked it up. Can't afford one in NOS condition so I had to settle for one that needed some TLC. Watch is in overall good condition but does need some case and band polishing, a new crystal and servicing. It runs with an Accucell-1 but is intermittent - that's a good sign! I love the SS asymmetrical case with 14 ct. fused gold "boomerangs". Case back is SS and has original early design setting handle/crown and battery hatch spring. Band is Speidel original and brown inlays match the color of the dial. It is shown in an early "Microsonic" watch box I picked up recently.

The dial does look black in the pic but is actually dark brown with matching color band inlays. Yeah, I am very pleased with it as not only is it an M0 but the watch and band combo styling does catch the eye. I don't think of it is a strikingly beautiful watch but as an unusual variation instead of a more traditional design.

Beautiful watch!! I need an asymmetrical case badly!!! I like the SS with the machined designs on top. That's a nice rare dial, and interesting band as well.

    Hello.

    Congratulations for this 214.

    Can you show the back?
    Is waterproof?

Have some more difference with regular 214?

    Thanks

Don't have any pics of the back at this time but it is basically the same as any 214 with the exception of the different look to the crown. Same size, shape and design of case back and locking ring.

This watch, as far as any budget I'll ever have to work with (Uncle Sam's disabled vet pensions don't lend themselves to really expensive watches) is concerned, is the Holy Grail of Accutrons. Even this model always seemed beyond anything I could ever buy until I ran into someone who was more interested in his watch going to someone who loves Accutrons than he was in making money. So for $225 I finally got one, in 95% mint condition except for the dial. And running a few seconds, stopping, running a few seconds, stopping, etc., which is no big deal; thanks to the guy I got it from I have a complete NOS indexing mechanism for it, as well as some other parts, so it's going to the watchmaker Monday. According to what I've been told, from several sources, this model was ONLY made in 1960, which would mean only 2 months' (Nov & Dec '60) worth of production, so it might be rarer than anything besides a platinum 214. Even the Alphas were made into the '60s. (There's a 14K as-is Alpha on Ebay now, start bid $650, the gold alone is likely worth something near that much, I hope it isn't bought by some scrapper ( Bulova Accutron Alpha 14k | eBay ) I really want to restore this watch to original condition. Since you apparently collect Accutrons, do you know a good and reliable place to get the dial restored? And do you by any chance know which straps/bracelets Bulova originally put on the '60 Asymmetric boomerangs?
