A dialin which the hours and the seconds are indicated on seperate subdials rather than on the main central dial (sweep seconds hand).

The reasoning is to make the minutes hand, mounted on the centre , easier to read.

The name "regulator" comes from the fact that the large pendulum clocks once used to regulate the time in watch factories and celestial observatories had that type of dial.

    Now you know

Outside of this forum, I'm the smartest guy anyone knows about watches. Basic knowledge impresses casual watch owners. I dread the day when someone knows more than me in real life! But really Adam, you and this forum are a huge part of why I know anything about watches.

Kudos and if there were a beer icon I'd appropriately say "Cheers!"
