I realized yesterday that I have bought from the seller in the past, and he was always a nice guy. I shared a few emails with him yesterday and he was VERY reasonable once I told him the complete 2-tone story. He removed the back, and the center case around the movements polished white with a simple cloth... as did the rest of the case. His last email said that he would try to correct it OR cancel and re-list it as a white engraved Square.

And that mid-case looked so yellow, too. It pays to be a skeptic.

Guys, Jay has re-listed this one correctly as a solid white gold Square. I have dealt with him once, got a beautiful Glenn from him. I totally agree with Adam, you have to be skeptical, especially these days.
I was speaking to Jay 2 years ago and I inquired about if he had any solid gold Square Engraved for sale. He said that he had a solid white gold one and he sent some photos of it to me. He would not tell me his price, so I didn't make an offer (I think that the green gold ones are more rare anyway). The first photo is the watch that was originally described as a Two-Tone, this photo was sent to me by Jay two years ago, notice how white everything looks. This watch was not offered on the swamp after I had spoken to Jay about it. Two years later the center case has tarnished, but I do remember this watch quite well and I've waited to see it turn up.
On that note (no disrespect to Jay) I question if the bezel is solid or filled. This may sound a bit strange, but let me state my case (no pun etc.). I own two Square Engraved gold-filled and one solid green gold Square Engraved, there are currently at least 3 gold-filled Square Engraved watches on the swamp. Every gold-filled Square Engraved that I have ever seen shows the same exact pattern on the four bezel surfaces. Notice how the engraving comes to a complete and straight line at the ends (think of a parenthesis with two 90 degree corners) , looks like it was stamped. You have to focus on each pattern end, there are eight of them!
On the solid gold versions, the engraving is the same, but the ends are open, not closed. This has nothing to do with wear, I've see some very beat up Square Engraved watches that show the same thing. So the second and third photos are my 2 gold-filled Squares and the last photo is the solid green gold Square. Compare the watches and see if you agree!

Norm, I think there were just 2 different engraving patterns used. Here are my gold-filled white and green examples. The latter shows the "open" engraving pattern like on the solid gold example you showed:

Adam, I never knew that 2 patterns were used, but as usual, you are right on the money. Check out item# 270900018424, it shows the "open" pattern and it's also described as a 1929 which is the last year of production. My solid gold one is also circa 1929. Very interesting!

I never noticed until you mentioned it; then I checked mine, that's all.

Looks like someone made the seller an offer he couldn't refuse!

    It's gone now,

I cannot tell a lie... my Square collection had a rather obvious 14K hole.

THANKS! I just WISH had an enamel san-serif (luminous-styed) dial like in your white Square above to put inside it! (And seeing your green Square with the AGN and butler Square that I think was at one point mine also is sad...LOL)
