So I'm trying find out what this watch is all about. It seems like a correct 14K Wadsworth case, 1922-1926. It's also got a 986A movement that doesn't seem to match the case. Could the dial/movement have come from another model with this dial layout? Could it have been original to this case but poorly redialed?

What are some ways to proceed with these mix and match pieces?

Although the font for "Hamilton" and the subseconds numerals is correct, the gold numbers are not. The minutes chapter is too small. The hands are correct, except the lume is missing. If you like it do nothing. If not, have it refinished correctly. You would probably have to find a photo of a correct one to send along with the dial, though.

You think the minutes and hours hands match?

I know they are. Here's the page from Hamilton's 1926 catalog. Also, check out my signature photo.

Default Another Hamilton with the seconds bit at 9!

Strangely enough, I sold one 2 weeks ago on ebay.

It cost me $25 at auction - I guess no-one realised its rarity.

Here is mine in a 14k green gold case......dial was re-done but not really exactly correct. Can easily be done again by International dial to look more original. Mine is listed on an auction site. Movement was recently over hauled. Runs great.

Shhhh. It was somebody here who bought it. He might not want to know what you paid for it.
