My favorite watch in a movie is still the Movado PolyPlan worn by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones in "Raiders of the Lost Ark". In one scene Indy is hanging and his "Wind at 12" 56mm or so yellow gold PolyPlan is shown clearly. An amazing watch!!

I love "Boardwalk Empire". The first season takes place in 1920, so the preponderance of men wearing wristwatches is a bit inaccurate, but at least they all seem to be '20s (albeit later '20s) pieces. Steve Buscemi's character (Nucky Thompson) does pull out a nice Elgin pocket watch in one of the later episodes.
    Cheers, Adam

I was very disappointed in the watch shown on "Amelia Earhart's" wrist in the movie. It was a quartz watch with a jumping seconds hand. As far as I know, quartz watches had not yet been invented. That seems like a pretty big goof for the continuity experts working on a period movie!
    best wishes,

As the most egregious example, she was shown while flying with a white faced watch, with the case worn along the inner arm. From a distance it looked like it could be a period aviator's watch. But I soon had a shock that the props people would put a modern Hamilton Kkaki with date on her wrist (several close-ups shown).

You are not the first I know and who likes it. It seems that I have to go after an UK version or an US release, because I think it will take years until some local TV shows it in German here. It was the same with BSG (yap, I like SciFi too). I already finished with seeing the whole series when they started here with the first part of the second season.
    Kind regards

Sadly I don't own the movie, but it the the first Indiana Jones film. There is a scene when he is hanging in a pit.... perhaps the snake scene, I forget. A few years ago the photo was posted on the IHC 185 but when I tried to look for it last year or so I could not find it. It was clearly a long Polyplan... I remember because that watch is my grail!
